Stamps sign three imports

The Calgary Stampeders have signed import receiver Jeremy Horne, import defensive lineman Monte Simmons and import defensive back Torin Harris.

Horne played nine games for the National Football League’s Kansas City Chiefs in 2010-11 and has also spent time with the New York Giants. Horne played his three final collegiate seasons (2007-09) at UMass and recorded 85 catches for 1,343 yards and 11 touchdowns for the Minutemen. He was a third-team all-Colonial Athletic Conference performer as a junior in 2008 as he made 50 catches for 895 yards and eight touchdowns.

Simmons has attended NFL training camps with the San Francisco 49ers (2011), Philadelphia Eagles (2012) and Indianapolis Colts (2013). Collegiately, he played 45 games and made 19 starts as a defensive end for Kent State. He finished his career with the Golden Flashes in third place in school history with 21.5 career sacks and eighth in tackles for loss with 38.5. Simmons earned second-team all-Mid-American Conference honours as a senior in 2009 after collecting 38 tackles, including 10 tackles for loss, 5.5 sacks and one forced fumble.

Harris played four seasons at the University of Southern California (2010-13) after redshirting in 2009. In 14 games, including four starts, as a senior for the Trojans, he recorded 30 total tackles and had one interception, and seven pass break-ups.
