Rogers: First place is the goal

David Moll

Getting 1,000 yards, it’s a good individual achievement. I have to give glory to God. He blessed me with a lot of talent and I just have to go out there and use that talent.

Offensively, Bo (Levi Mitchell) has given me lots of opportunities. The offensive line – even though there have been a lot of injuries there – they have been stepping in and doing their job. The other receivers are making plays, too. Sometimes you see that one-on-one coverage and you just have to take advantage of it.

The Lions were desperate and hungry for a win last night and so were we. We knew we were letting them hang around. We had opportunities to put touchdowns but only came up with field goals. Sometimes we had two-and-outs when we wanted to sustain long drives. They were sticking around and we knew something like a return touchdown could happen or they could put a drive together. We didn’t take advantage of putting them away early and it almost bit us in the butt.

They have some playmakers and game-changers over there. Chris Rainey, he changed the game with two big returns. We knew he was capable of that but he still came in here and did it. We responded right away, though. (Nathan) Slaughter got a nice return on the next play and we marched down and got a touchdown on that drive. Even though we won, we know we can be better and we’ll have to get better

As a team, we are just trying to hold down first place. I just try to help each and every week to go out there and get a win. First place is big because then you get that bye week before hosting a playoff game. That’s the main goal and if I can help with that every week and the individual stuff comes, that’s just extra.
