It’s an early-season battle for first place in the West Division as the Stampeders face the BC Lions on Friday night at McMahon Stadium. Kickoff is at 8 p.m. MDT.
The second-place Stamps, at home for the first time since July 1, are 2-1-1 and they’re unbeaten in three games since a 20-18 season-opening loss in Vancouver against the Lions. Division-leading BC is 3-1.
Calgary was a 33-18 winner last week as the Stamps picked up a victory in Winnipeg. The Lions were on a bye last week and were last in action on July 16 when they won 40-27 on the road against Saskatchewan.
The Stamps (who have allowed an average of 21.5 points per game) and Lions (18.3) own the CFL’s two stingiest defences so far in 2016 while Calgary is third in the league an average of 28.3 points scored per contest.
