Calgary Stampeders quarterback Bo Levi Mitchell has been chosen as the Canadian Football League’s Most Outstanding Player for the 2016 season. The award was announced on Thursday in Toronto at the CFL’s awards gala at the Art Gallery of Ontario.

It’s the 10th time a Stamps player has received the league’s top-player award.

Mitchell led the Stamps to a 15-1-1 record in his 17 starts including a 14-game winning streak and a 16-game unbeaten streak as he improved his CFL-record winning percentage to .853. He led the CFL with 32 touchdown passes and he was one of just three QBs this season to crack the 5,000-yard mark (5,385). He also threw 11 two-point converts.

The Katy, Tex., native completed 412 of 606 passes and threw just eight interceptions. He had 11 games with at least 300 passing yards and threw at least one touchdown pass in 16 of his 17 starts. Mitchell also carried the ball 16 times for 40 yards. He is a West Division all-star and was the CFL’s player of the month for both July and August.

Mitchell’s win capped a big night for the Stamps at the CFL awards as running back Jerome Messam was named Most Outstanding Canadian, Derek Dennis earned the Most Outstanding Offensive Lineman nod, receiver DaVaris Daniels was voted top rookie and Dave Dickenson was honoured as the coach of the year.

It’s the first time in franchise history the Stamps have won five major CFL awards in a single season. The previous high was the four trophies the team took home in 2013 — Most Outstanding Player and Most Outstanding Canadian (both by Jon Cornish), Most Outstanding Rookie (Brett Jones) and Most Outstanding Special Teams Player (Rene Paredes).
