Getting to know… Jerome Messam

Running back Jerome Messam was traded to the Stampeders on Oct. 14, 2015.

He’s played seven seasons in the CFL including stops with BC, Edmonton, Montreal and Saskatchewan. He got his start in the CFL after signing as an undrafted free agent with BC in 2010.

He’s been a West Division all-star three times, a CFL all-star twice and was named the CFL’s Most Outstanding Canadian in both 2011 and 2016.

The Ontario native has cracked the 1,000-yard rushing mark three times (2011, 2015 and 2016) and has a total of 4,468 yards on the ground over his career, along with 25 touchdowns. He’s added 1,814 receiving yards and one TD through the air.

In 2016, he led the league in rushing with a personal best 1,198 yards and was also tops in rushing touchdowns with 11. He played his 100th regular-season game in the Labour Day Classic.

Just a big breakfast that’ll pretty much hold me over to the game. If it’s a night game, I only eat one meal before the game whether it be lunch or breakfast. Just one big meal and then snack until the game.
