Hoops team outlasts Langdon

Despite a limited number of players at their disposal, the Stamps were able to slay the Dragons on Friday morning.

Andrew Buckley, Bo Levi Mitchell, Rene Paredes, Spencer Wilson and Anthony Woodson held on for a hard-fought victory over the Dragons of nearby Langdon. Deron Mayo was once again patrolling the sidelines for the Red and White.

Boys and girls from Grades 7, 8 and 9 were invited to take part in an exclusive autograph session before being accompanied by Langdon staff in the fun-spirited affair. The entire K-9 student body of Langdon School gathered around the court to see the school welcome the TELUS Stampeders Basketball team.

Standout performances from members of the Stamps included Paredes knocking down a three-pointer and Buckley showing his scoring touch inside from start to finish.

The two Langdon players of the game, Martina and Nicholas, both received gifts from TELUS. They each took home a selfie stick, critter and TELUS calendar as well as four tickets and food vouchers to an upcoming Calgary Roughnecks game.

Next up on the schedule is a clash with Webber Academy on Wednesday, Mar. 8 at 11:30 a.m.
