Stamps face Webber Academy

In a Wednesday-morning clash, the Stampeders basketball team kept their perfect record intact with a victory over southwest Calgary’s Webber Academy.

The school’s senior boys’ team kept things close early on, but the Stamps eventually pulled away. Rene Paredes’ buzzer-beater to end the third quarter put the Red and White in position to close out the win.

Paredes was joined on the court by fellow teammates Andrew Buckley – a Webber Academy alumni – as well as Alex Singleton and Spencer Wilson. Defensive backs coach Kahlil Carter made his 2017 debut and chipped in throughout with some key baskets.

In addition, Singleton made a pair of three-pointers before halftime and Wilson grabbed several crucial rebounds along the way.

Making his way through students along the sidelines and cheering on the Stampeders was Ralph the Dog. Mark Stephen, the voice of the Calgary Stampeders on News Talk 770, announced the starting lineup and provided play-by-play for another edition of the TELUS Stampeders Basketball Program.
