Red and White slay the Dragons

In the next-to-last game on the hardwood this year, the TELUS Stampeders Basketball Program made their way out to Red Deer Lake School.

Andrew Buckley, Den D’Aguilar, Dan Federkeil, Charleston Hughes and Spencer Wilson were Monday’s starting five.

Playing in only his second game this season, Hughes started things off with a three-pointer from long range. Federkeil protected the paint from beginning to end and Wilson made several on-target outlet passes to create fast-break opportunities for the Stamps.

Red Deer Lake’s senior boys’ and girls’ teams made some fearless drives to the hoop and passed the ball effectively against the Red and White’s zone defence.

Up to his usual tricks was Ralph the Dog, making his way through the students watching from afar as well as visiting the players waiting to check back into the action.

The Stampeders then spent time visiting various classrooms for pictures and autographs after picking up yet another victory on the basketball court.

The TELUS Stampeders Basketball Program will make its 10th and final appearance on Wednesday at WG Murdoch School in Crossfield with tip-off set for 11:30 a.m.
