As soon as I signed with the Stampeders during the off-season, I knew coming in that I needed to stay healthy throughout camp and to be on the field as much as I could.
Especially coming into a new offence, the best way to learn it is by messing up on the field and running those routes and then making sure you’re making the corrections you need to make to do it properly.
That was my No. 1 goal coming in. I knew that if I was on the field every rep, I knew I had a great opportunity to make this team.
I’ve got nothing to prove to anyone other than to myself. I know what I’m capable of and I know what I can do when given an opportunity to be counted on. That’s what I’m going to do this year.
This offence puts you in a good position to make plays. It might not be your turn this week or next week but at some point, you’re going to be counted on to make plays. The other thing is you’ve got to learn every position in this offence. That’s what makes it so tough coming in but once you’ve got it down, it’s good.
I love being here. It’s just a great atmosphere. All the coaches are positive and it’s just been a great place to learn and play.
I’m looking forward to the first week of the season. It’s been awhile that I’ve actually been in the mix for the whole week leading up to a game and getting an opportunity to play, so I’m looking forward to it.
I’m just going to stick to what I know and do.
Montreal has good cover guys. They’ve shown that over the years and you’ve got to be prepared to win one on one. We did a lot of one-on-one stuff in camp and I think it’s got us ready for this week.
