Editor's note: Rookie J'Micheal Deane underwent surgery on Sunday to repair the damage caused by a frightening ankle injury at Toronto's Rogers Centre on Friday. The Hinton, Alta., native is already determined to start the comeback process. You can leave your well wishes to J'Micheal in the comments section below.

I just wanted to let everyone know that I’m back home again after undergoing the surgery.

I’m just glad the injury is not as bad as it looked on TV. Everybody was saying, “Oh my gosh, that was terrible,” but I just kept reassuring them that it wasn’t that painful at the time. Again, it looked a whole lot worse than it actually was.

The surgery was a success. Now it’s all on me to do the rehab and do all the training and get better so I can get back out there and play next season.

That was my way of thinking right from the beginning. As soon as I was on the gurney, I was thinking, “The work starts now.”

I have seen the replay of the injury and it definitely did look terrible. I had of people tell me that they couldn’t bear to watch it.

I just want to thank all the fans a lot for the support and the blessings. They’ve helped me a lot to stay positive through all of this. That’s going to help me get through everything I need to go through in order to come back so I can be out there playing for them again.
