Calgary Stampeders head coach and general manager John Hufnagel is pleased to announce that import defensive back Tad Kornegay has signed with the club. As per club policy, terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

In addition, import defensive back Derrius Brooks has been added to the practice roster.

Kornegay is entering his eighth season in the CFL, having previously played for Hamilton, Saskatchewan and BC. During his seven years in the league, he has been to the Grey Cup four times and won two championships — with Saskatchewan in 2007 and with BC in 2011.

In 15 regular-season games for the Roughriders and Lions in 2011, Kornegay recorded 39 tackles, including three tackles for loss, four special-teams tackles, two interceptions, two fumble recoveries and five pass knockdowns. In 106 career games, he has 134 tackles, including six tackles for loss, 51 special-teams tackles, three sacks, seven interceptions, eight forced fumbles, seven fumble recoveries and 26 pass knockdowns.

Prior to coming to the CFL, the Trenton, N.J., native played at Fordham University where he was a two-time Patriot League first-team all-star.

Brooks, meanwhile, earned second-team all-Sun Belt Conference honours in 2011 as a member of the Western Kentucky University and signed as an undrafted free agent with the National Football League’s Cincinnati Bengals in May of 2012.
