IT'S A SNAP

It's a Snap, the annual ladies-only football seminar presented by Delta Lodge Kananaskis, continues to be a wildly popular event.
The 2011 edition of It's a Snap was held at the Red & White Club on Monday, Apr. 4 and thanks to 300 enthusiastic participants, emcee Cara Fullerton, the entire complement of Stampeders coaches and a good representation of Calgary players, it was an unforgettable evening for one and all.
The presentations were both informative and entertaining — defensive coordinator Chris Jones was a favourite target of the other coaches when it came to good-natured ribbing — and everybody went home with good memories along with the following goodies:
- Football Playbook
- Two white-zone tickets to the Stampeders' pre-season home game
- A 25 per cent off Stamps’ Store Coupon
- It’s a Snap Event T-Shirt
On top of that, a lucky few had their names picked at random to win some great door prizes.
One of the unexpected high points of the evening came when head coach and general manager John Hufnagel brought Natalie, one of the rookie members of the gathering, up on stage and the young lady brought the house down by singing a Sugarland song. She even dedicated the song to Coach Huff!
Just before that outstanding performance, rookie assistant coaches Tony Missick and Dave Walkosky had performed a military-style cadence routine.
"It's a good thing you guys went first," Coach Huff kidded his assistants after Natalie left the stage, "because that would have been a tough act to follow."
The general idea of the annual event is to teach registrants the basics of football but even more important than that, it's all about having some fun. Not even the weekend snow storm that forced the cancellation of the outdoor portion of the evening could change that.
Stamps players Jon Cornish, Tim O'Neill, Jon Gott, Joffrey Reynolds, Keon Raymond and Rob Cote were on hand to meet the ladies, sign autographs and pose for photos.
