The Calgary Stampeders couldn’t overcome a poor start or the kicking of Damon Duval in their 2009 season-opener at McMahon Stadium on a rainy Wednesday night.

The Stamps fell into an early 20-0 hole and wound up losing 40-27 to the Montreal Alouettes as the rematch of the 2008 Grey Cup produced a different winner.

Despite their early struggles, Calgary actually managed to tie the game at 27-27 but Duval’s fifth and sixth field goals of the contest put the Alouettes ahead to stay.
