A LITTLE SUGAR FOR THE ALBERTA HALL
Ezzrett (Sugarfoot) Anderson, a longtime member of the Calgary Stampeders organization, is the 2010 recipient of the Alberta Sports Hall of Fame’s Pioneer Award.
Anderson, who joined the Stampeders as a player in 1949 and continues to work for the club as an account executive, will be honoured along with the other 2010 inductees at the Alberta sports hall’s induction banquet on May 28 at Red Deer’s Capri Centre Hotel.
A native of Arkansas, Anderson spent five seasons with the Stampeders and twice led the club in receiving. He made 142 catches for 2,020 yards as a member of the Red and White and scored 10 touchdowns. He was an all-star player for Calgary’s 1949 WIFU-championship squad.
Other members of the Alberta sports hall’s class of 2010 include skier Thomas Grandi, former Flames netminder Mike Vernon, wrestler Christine Nordhagen, golfer Gwen Davies, rodeo performer Jerri Duce Phillips, builder Donald Moore, builders Vance and Shelley Curtis, TV personality Grant Pollock and the 1983-85 University of Calgary football team.
