Hughes: A great team effort

September 8, 2010

Hughes_100908.jpgAfter missing the previous three games because of injury, I’ve got to work on my conditioning but overall, I’m good. I had a good game on Labour Day.

I was able to get to the quarterback a couple of times but I’m mad at myself because I wasn’t able to get there fast enough so that it would count as a sack but at least it counts as a hurry.

Smith: Nice to get that first pick

September 6, 2010

SmithBL_100906.jpgThat was my first interception in the CFL, so it’s a big thing. It’s been a long time coming. I had quite a few close calls but they never seemed to take the bounces to my hands. Today I was fortunate enough to get it to my hands and to get into the end-zone also, so it was my first interception and first touchdown also, always a good thing.

I got a good bounce on that interception but any time you can get an int

Burris: Opportunistic football

September 6, 2010

9334365_copy_1.jpgComing out tonight, we were pretty patient and we were able to get that long pass to Rambo (Ken-Yon) and I think that really set the tone for things and we were able to make some things happen from there. But Edmonton played hard. They made plays early on, but that turnover our defence was able to get really put us in a good position and once we were able to get that touchdown it really opened things up for our offence. From there we were able to mix things up and keep a good balance of run and pass and we were able to put some points up.

Anderson: Calgary-Edmonton is a dogfight

September 6, 2010

Anderson_100906.jpgWe’re back at it again. Back with them Eskies, man.

When you play against Edmonton, we don’t know what kind of quarterback we’re getting — a runner or a pocket passer. But both Ricky Ray and Jared Zabransky bring a lot of threats to the game. Zabransky can bring you to the outside and he’s got a decent arm on him. And Ricky? He’s the Mechanic, always.

Browner: Focused on the "W"

September 5, 2010

Browner_100905.jpgSome people have been making a deal about some of the things that happened between us and the Eskimos but that isn’t anything we’ve been thinking about. We’re thinking about a “W” and that’s it, that’s all.

People got fined for what happened in that game and we’re not looking to catch any more fines. We’ve got one goal at the end of the year and that’s to get to the Grey Cup.

Comiskey: Nothing like Labour Day

September 4, 2010

Comiskey_100904.jpgI just can’t wait to play another Labour Day Classic. I’ve been on Edmonton’s side and now I get the chance to play for Calgary.

There’s no better place to play than Alberta and, as a Stampeder, I’m so thrilled with how the season is going and how the team has brought me in and really opened its arms to me as a player.

Cornish: The power of networking

September 2, 2010

Cornish_100831.jpgIt’s so exciting to have won the Reebok Reediscover competition!

It’s been a good year. With nobody expecting me, a second-string Canadian running back coming off a weak season, to win the Reebok Reeinsprire competition and, on top of that,  winning Canadian player of the week twice already.

Simpson: Roll Tide, again

September 1, 2010

Simpson_100901.jpgAlabama, my alma mater, is the defending national champion and they’re ranked No. 1 in the pre-season polls. All I can say is that it feels good to be an alumni right now.

A lot of people ask why Alabama has an elephant logo when the team is called the Crimson Tide. I think it comes from back in the day when we were beating up on people so bad, one of the media guys said the other teams were getting rolled on like a crimson tide of elephants or something like that.
