DeANGELIS: Meat, meat and more meat

Stampeder fans, I have a small problem...I have this obsession with Montreal smoked meat! Whenever we go to Montreal, I eat smoked meat sandwiches for breakfast, lunch and dinner. My craziness usually begins around midnight just after we arrive in Montreal. We travel from the airport to our hotel and within minutes of getting to our hotel, you’ll find me at Dunn’s. This deli is famous for it’s Montreal smoked meat and it’s open 24 hours a day. I usually go to bed a happy and stuffed camper, only to wake up the next day with the same obsession!
Our second day in Montreal always involves a walk-through practice right around lunchtime. As soon as that practice is over, you’ll find me at Schwartz’s. This deli is very famous for it’s smoked meat too. I guarantee you’ll stand in line as dozens of people wait to sink their teeth into this tasty treat. I will again go to bed a happy and stuffed camper, only to wake up the next day with the same obsession!
Our third day in Montreal is game day. I love playing in Molson Stadium; the atmosphere is wonderful. The Als are always formidable opponents, and my family is always in attendance as my home town is roughly five hours away. Win or lose, I drag my family to the closest deli that serves smoked meat. They know about my obsession and I would say they are supportive and never seem to put up a fight. We usually find ourselves at Dunn’s around midnight. We discuss what happened at the game and what is going on in each other’s lives. It’s truly a happy time for me because I do not get to see my family that often, not to mention I have a huge mound of smoked meat in front of me. So again, I go to bed a happy and stuffed camper. The next day, we wake up bright and early to catch our flight back to Calgary. I can honestly say, I don’t even want to look at another smoked meat sandwich again. This feeling stays with me for quite a while, but I eventually get over it and enjoy my smoked meat sandwiches the very next year!

| Whatever you're doing in Montreal certainly works. Something like 23/24 against the Als???? That's just insane!!!! Maybe Hellard should spring for flying you in a few Montreal smoked meat sandwhiches before each game... |
