REYNOLDS: Hitting on all cylinders

Collectively, we played a great game tonight, almost 500 yards of total offence (487 yards). Really everybody was hitting on all cylinders and it’s kind of easy when things are going that way. It’s something for us to build on with the slow starts we’ve been having in the first few games. We wanted to get out and have a good performance here at home.
The game was kind of wide open as far as offence goes. It seemed like the majority of the plays we called, we had success on. Everybody wanted to come out and play and put their stamp on things. We talked about finishing football games and finishing teams and getting wins at home and that was definitely our major focus tonight.
Coming in we knew that they liked to drop into zones and I think that’s what we focused on, dumping the ball off short and taking advantage of the underneath routes. Nik had a great game (nine catches for 125 yards and two touchdowns) tonight and was able to take short passes and make great gains out of them.
As for gaining 5,000 yards in my career (5,095), it kind of crept up on me. Petrie told me last week that I was only one yard away. I was kind of a little nervous; you just want to get it over with.
It’s definitely been a great stay here in Calgary. They’ve treated me very well. I think I’m still growing as a player and hopefully we can keep adding to our win total and I just hope I can keep being a productive player for this team.
Now we have to head out to Winnipeg and try to beat them at home. They’re a team that is kind of on a downswing, but they’re looking to catch full stride and get a big victory. They’re a team that has had success in the past, they have great players and we’re going into hostile territory. I think the signature of a great team is winning games on the road and it will be another big challenge for us.
Since there isn’t much happening on a Thursday night, I’ll probably go out and get a bite to eat and then head home to get ready for rundown at 10 in the morning.
