Hey Stamps Fans!
The ENMAX Labour Day Classic is almost here and I can’t wait for yet another gut-wrenching game.
This game is always packed full of excitement as we battle our rival team, the Edmonton Eskimos. As if this Battle of Alberta wasn't exciting enough, the Edmonton cheer team will be accompanying the Eskimos and we will also be releasing our 2011 Outriders Calendar.

Hey Stamps Fans!
With the calendar coming out in just one month, it’s time for us girls to get in front of the camera and strike a pose! As it takes a lot of time and effort to put a calendar as good as ours together, we girls are currently in the midst of getting our shots taken and this was something I will never forget.
The whole experience was a whole jumble of emotions — excitement, anxiety, stress, but maybe that’s only because I had never done anything even close to a photo shoot, let alone one for a calendar to be sold to a bunch of fans!

Hey Stamps fans, it’s that time of year again — we are shooting our 2011 calendar! This will be my second season being in the calendar and I am extremely excited.
Last year, I was so nervous and really didn’t know what to expect. This year, I know what to expect so I’m ready to put on my outfit and get in front of the camera and have a great shoot!

It’s that time of year again when the Calgary Stampeder Outriders are preparing for the annual “Little Miss Outrider” halftime show!
The Little Miss Outrider event gives girls ages 3-16 the opportunity to learn and perform a choreographed dance routine with the Outriders during the July 31 game against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

Sunday afternoon I got to experience my first game as an Outrider!
The day started off at 9 a.m., which was when I had to wake up to do my hair and makeup and check one last time to ensure I had packed everything I would need for the game. After making sure I was ready, I headed off to McMahon Stadium to begin the day.

The first game is days away! Can you believe it?
We have all been working really hard in preparation for this season. With what seems like countless dances, cheers and sideline dances (which we call extraneous) completed, I feel more prepared this season than ever.

Being an Outrider gives us all the amazing opportunity to get involved in the community through various events and appearances.
Personally, this is one of my favourite parts of being an Outrider. It allows us to get out in the community, meet some amazing people and gives a chance to give back and make a difference.
So far this year, the Outriders have been involved in a variety of events and promotional appearances throughout the city.

What does it take to become an Outrider? Practice, practice and more practice!
Our team started training mid-April learning new cheers, extraneous and exciting new dances. We meet for three hours twice a week working on our cheers, polishing dances and learning new material. But the practising doesn't stop there!

Hey Stamps fans!
With the 2010 season right around the corner, we can all look forward to one of my favourite events — Fanfest, which is being held at McMahon Stadium May 29.
For those of you who haven't attended Fanfest in the past, Fanfest is a day filled with fun and excitement, a time when you are able to meet some of the Stampeders themselves, the coaching staff and the Outriders!

2010 Outrider auditions took place over the past couple of weekends. Here is an inside lookat the experience of one of the newest Outriders, Petra.
I arrived at 9:30 a.m.. I filled out the audition form and received my number. My name for that day was #26. I started stretching with my four other girlfriends that had also come to try out for the 2010 Outrider team.

So this is it, the final round of 2010 Outriders auditions!
So this year they decided to go in a different direction and that is to have the final audition held at Flames Central. It’s a great idea and it will give everyone a chance to see how much effort everyone puts in to the audition process. It will be great to see which girls have made it this far. Last year we didn’t get to meet each other until our first practice.

It is the 2010 Outriders auditions already!
I cannot believe how fast the past four months have gone and I am so excited to get right back into the groove of things. Last year was my rookie year so this will be my second audition — if you didn’t already know each girl must re-audition every year. Even if you have been on the ]team for two years, five years or seven years, you still have to audition.

Another season has come and gone.
This past year has gone by so fast. It didn’t seem like too long ago we were anticipating the first home game. I can’t believe in three short months we will be holding auditions for the 2010 Calgary Stampeder Outriders.

Hey Stamps Fans,
The Outriders just got back from our trip to Regina to help cheer on the Stampeders in the Western Final and we had an amazing time. The bus ride up to Regina was a very exciting one.
Even though we boarded the bus on Saturday at midnight, everyone was pumped up to cheer on the Stamps at Mosaic Stadium. As a fourth-year veteran of the Calgary Stampeder Outriders, I’ve never had the opportunity to take a road trip to cheer on the Stamps at the Western Finals. It was definitely an experience I’ll never forget.
As soon as we arrived in Regina Sunday morning, our bus full of anxious Outriders headed to Gold’s Gym so we could get ready for the game.

“Outrider Calendars, $10!” This is a phrase I learned quickly in my first year on the team. Now in my fourth season, I’ve come to love the time for calendar sales rolls around.
For those of you who don’t know, the Outriders put together a calendar each year to raise funds to get to Grey Cup. This calendar is a fun and exciting experience for the whole team. I remember my first year being nervous and terrified to unveil it to the fans, much the same as rookies feel each year, but now instead I feel a huge sense of pride and accomplishment upon completion.

Someone once asked me “Why do you like being a cheerleader?” to which I responded with a lengthy and animated 20-minute explanation of how incredible it really is.
It is not uncommon to hear negative stereotypes about the cheerleaders but in my personal experiences, I found these assumptions to be false. The Calgary Stampeder Outriders are a group of intelligent, beautiful, strong, classy women who demonstrate a love of dance and a devotion to the Calgary community and the Stampeders team.

We just got back from our road trip to Edmonton to cheer on the Stamps at the Labour Day game rematch against the Edmonton Eskimos and I had a blast!
Being a rookie on the team, I was very nervous for the Battle of Alberta, Labour Day Classic rematch in Edmonton and was wondering how everything would turn out.

Hello Stamps fans, hope you’re all doing fantastic!
I’m sitting here writing this blog from a computer at Mount Royal University and I can’t help but become completely overwhelmed by the immense feeling of excitement as the Calgary Stampeders and the Calgary Stampeder Outriders gear up for a road trip to Edmonton against the Eskimos in a Labor Day rematch tonight.
This past Labour Day was definitely a memorable one for me. I had always dreamt about becoming a Stamps cheerleader since the very first time my Dad took me to a live Stamps CFL game when I was a young girl.

Hey Stamps fans!
I am so excited to be the one to invite you all to the release of our 2010 Outrider Calendar this Friday at Schanks North!
Being a rookie, it has been such an amazing experience being a part of a professional photo shoot for this calendar. The hair, the makeup, the lights . . . everything was all so new and exciting and so much fun to be a part of. After all of the shots were taken, Kelli Labonte and photographer Mark Mennie had the tough job of picking just the right ones to be placed in the calendar. I can’t lie to you — we did get a sneak peak at the pictures and I must say it’s going to be a good one!

Hey Stamps fans!
I hope you are getting excited for the release of the Outriders Calendar because we sure are.
Many people may not know how much hard work and planning goes into our calendar before we even start shooting. Our coach first has to decide on some photo themes. Then she matches every girl to the theme she thinks suits them best. The theme of our shot helps determine location of the shot, outfit, hairstyle, makeup etc. It is up to each girl to pick out her own outfit. This is super fun because we get a chance to be creative but we are also able to find something we feel most comfortable in.

I just wanted to say how amazing it was to see so many of you out on the streets for the Calgary Stampede Parade.
As a rookie, I was thrilled to get to be involved in the Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth. What made the day even more special to me was the fact that there were tons of proud Stamps fans cheering from the sides!
TARALYN: A life-changing event

One thing I never thought about doing is donating blood. But on June 18, we were given the opportunity to change that.
A group of us walked into the Canadian Blood Service building, rolled up our sleeve and donated blood. July is the month blood is needed the most, so the Outriders are challenging the entire city to meet or exceed the Calgary Canadian Blood Services need for donors this month. Our team kicked off the challenge with enthusiasm and pride that we were able to get involved in the community in such a life-altering way.

Although all of us cheerleaders love performing for the fans and cheering on our Stamps, one of the most rewarding parts of our job is our community involvement. Being an Outrider allows me to volunteer for various organizations that really make a difference in the Calgary community.
