Calgary signed St. Pierre as a free agent on Feb. 16, 2011. He was selected in the third round (19th overall) by the Edmonton Eskimos in the 2008 CFL Canadian Draft.

In his first season with the Red and White, St. Pierre was converted from linebacker to fullback and played 14 regular-season games including four starts. Used almost exclusively as a blocker, he did not have any carries and made one catch for 14 yards. The reception, which was the first of his professional career, came on July 14 against Winnipeg. He was also used extensively on special teams and made four tackles. He missed the final four games of the regular season as well as the West Division semifinal with an elbow injury.
St. Pierre played in 17 games for the Eskimos and was Edmonton’s nominee for the Most Outstanding Special Teams Player award. He handled the Esks’ long-snapping duties and was tied for second on the club with 13 special-teams tackles. He also served as a backup linebacker and recorded one defensive tackle.
St. Pierre played in all 18 regular-season games as well as the West semifinal. As a backup linebacker and special-teams regular, he recorded 11 tackles, 17 special-teams tackles and recovered a fumble. He had two special-teams tackles in the Esks’ semifinal loss to Calgary.
During his rookie season, St. Pierre suited up for all 18 regular-season games and both playoff contests for Edmonton. He made three special-teams tackles and saw action as the long-snapper during an Oct. 4 game against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
