Red and White Gala is on Sept. 13

Football fans in Calgary are being invited to help honour – and rub shoulders with – members of the 2012 Wall of Fame class.

The Red and White Gala – presented by the Calgary Stampeder Alumni Association and Calgary Stampeders – will be held on Thursday, Sept. 13, and tickets are now available for the event.

Six people will be added to the Wall of Fame in 2012 including four players — running back Kelvin Anderson, quarterback Jeff Garcia, receiver Rudy Linterman and receiver/defensive halfback Gerry Shaw — and two builders — former president/general manager Normie Kwong and former owner Sig Gutsche.

All inductees will be honoured during the Stampeders’ game on Sept. 14 against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers but the excitement begins with the Red and White Gala on Sept. 13.

“The Calgary Stampeder Alumni Association and Calgary Stampeder Football Club have teamed up to launch the first Red and White Gala dinner,” says Rocco Romano, chairman of the event. “The dinner will celebrate our rich tradition, feature and honour the 2012 Wall of Fame inductees and, most importantly, the proceeds will support the Greater Calgary Amateur Football Association.”

Tickets for the event are $175 and tables of eight are available for $1,400. The event will be held in support of Calgary Amateur Football and the Shouldice Field Enhancement Project.

“Calgary Stampeders fans should circle Sept. 13 on their calendars,” said Lyle Bauer, president and COO of the Stampeders. “We expect this event to sell out quickly so make sure to get your tickets soon. The evening will be a great celebration of the accomplishments of the 2012 inductees.”
