Tsoumpas, Hinse join practice roster

The Calgary Stampeders have added national offensive linemen Dimitri Tsoumpas and Gord Hinse to the practice roster.

Tsoumpas was a four-time West Division all-star and three-time CFL all-star during a six-year stint with the Stampeders from 2008 to 2013. He was selected in the first round (second overall) by the Stamps out of Weber State in 2008 and immediately became a fixture at right guard as he started every game in what would be a Grey Cup-winning season for the Red and White.

Tsoumpas has joined the team strictly for practice purposes.

“Dimitri approached me and offered to help the team by going on the practice roster and taking some of the burden off our healthy offensive linemen at practice,” said Stampeders head coach and general manager John Hufnagel.

Hinse is a seven-year veteran with 52 career regular-season games with the Edmonton Eskimos and Winnipeg Blue Bombers. He was selected in the second round (11th overall) by Edmonton in the 2009 draft and spent five seasons with the Eskimos before signing with Winnipeg in 2014.

The University of Alberta product attended training camp with the Saskatchewan Roughriders in 2015. He was a two-time Canada West all-star with the Golden Bears and was twice named an academic all-Canadian.

In another transaction, international defensive back Shaquille Richardson has been released form the practice roster.
