Calgary Stampeders general manager John Hufnagel is pleased to announce the re-signing of national linebacker Corbin Sharun. He was set to become a free agent on Feb. 9. As per team policy, terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

Sharun, who had previously spent five seasons with the Edmonton Eskimos, was added to Calgary’s practice roster on July 28, 2015, and wound up seeing action in two regular-season contests for the Stamps. The 27-year-old Edmonton native also played in the Western Final and made three special-teams tackles.

“Corbin is a proven veteran who has been a solid special-teams player over the years,” said Hufnagel. “He played well in his limited opportunities for us last year and I look forward to seeing what he can do over a full season.”

In 75 career regular-season contests with Calgary and Edmonton, Sharun has 77 special-teams tackles, three defensive tackles, one punt block and one touchdown.

“I thank Huff and the Stampeders organization for giving me this opportunity to continue my career,” said Sharun. “I’m really looking forward to the season.”

In another roster move, the Stampeders have released international offensive lineman John Estes. The University of Hawaii product signed with the Stamps on July 22, 2015, and dressed for five regular-season games as well as the Western Final.
