For the second consecutive year, Stampeders receiver Marquay McDaniel is making a mark in the lives of young children affected by cancer.

Beginning in 2015, McDaniel serves as the Stamps official player representative for the Kids Cancer Care Foundation of Alberta, a charitable organization assisting Alberta families fight childhood cancer.

Camp SunRise, a program overseen by Kids Cancer Care, had a number of special guests stop by the camp’s Sports Day on Thursday.

In addition to earlier visits from members of the University Calgary Dinos football team and Michael Ferland of the Calgary Flames, McDaniel spent a portion of the afternoon with camp participants at the Killarney-Glengarry Community Centre.

Also attending on behalf of the Stampeders were Ashlee and Cassandra of the Outriders, presented by Century Downs.

Afternoon activities included outdoor games, arts and crafts and snack time. As well, McDaniel signed and distributed a large number of his personalized player cards and then posed for pictures before the appearance concluded.

Camp SunRise is a week-long camp for children 3-7 years old that takes place in both Calgary and Edmonton during the month of August.
