Help us tackle hunger

The Calgary Stampeders are once again pleased to team up with Purolator Inc. to play host to the annual Purolator Tackle Hunger food drive in support of the Calgary Food Bank.

The food drive will be held on Friday as the Stampeders face the Toronto Argonauts at McMahon Stadium in a 7 p.m. start. Fans can take part by bringing non-perishable food items or making cash donations to Purolator volunteers stationed at the stadium gates. All proceeds from the food drive will support the Calgary Food Bank.

“I’m so proud to once again be involved with the Purolator Tackle Hunger program,” said player rep Charleston Hughes. “This initiative does so much for the Calgary Food Bank and individuals in our community who are in need. I thank all the wonderful Stamps fans for their past, present and future support.”

At Friday’s game, fans who donate will have the opportunity to pose for a photo with the Grey Cup.

In 2015, Stamps fans donated 68,132 pounds of food for the Tackle Hunger program. Since 2003, Calgary fans have donated a total of 908,373 lbs. of food.

“It’s great to see Stampeder fans come out and help their neighbours in need with such generosity,” said Simon Lau, chair of the Calgary Food Bank’s board of directors. “This donation will go a long way to help families and individuals in crisis, and at a time when we head into our busiest season.”
