Mace leads fourth annual turkey drive

For the fourth year in a row, the Calgary Stampeders’ Corey Mace is spearheading a turkey and ham drive to help families in need during the holidays.

Mace started the program in 2013 when he was a player with the Stamps and is continuing the tradition after completing his first season as the club’s defensive line coach.

“My role with the team may have changed but I’m just as committed as ever to making sure families have a good meal to help them share the good times during the holiday season,” said Mace. “From the time I started the first turkey drive, I’ve always been motivated by the belief that no Christmas is complete without a turkey or ham dinner.”

Last year, 130 turkeys and hams were collected for delivery to the Airdrie Food Bank, CUPS and Enviros.

“Stamps fans have been extremely generous over the past three years and the drive keeps getting bigger and better,” said Mace. “I’m confident they’ll come through again.”

Anyone wishing to contribute a turkey or ham can make a donation at the Stampeders Administration Office located on the southwest corner of McMahon Stadium. Donations can be made on Thursday, Dec. 15 and Friday, Dec. 16 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

On Sunday, Dec. 18, Mace will be appearing at the West Springs Centre location of Calgary Co-op (100-917 85th St. SW) from 1 to 3 p.m. to sign autographs and accept turkey and ham donations.

On Monday, Dec. 19, Mace will personally be delivering the donated items to the Airdrie Food Bank, CUPS and Enviros.
