Getting to know… Rene Paredes

Rene Paredes has been kicking for the Stamps for six seasons after signing with the team on July 4, 2011.

He played his first game on July 8, 2011, against BC and his first field goal as a Stamp was a 50-yarder.

In 2013, he set a CFL records with 39 consecutive field goals and a field-goal efficiency of 94.7 per cent. He also led the CFL that season with 213 points. He was named the CFL’s Special Teams Player of the Year at the conclusion of that season.

A three-time CFL all-star, Paredes is perfect on eight field-goal attempts in three Grey Cup games.

Paredes was born in Venezuela but grew up in Quebec. He played high school football in Miami, Fla., before returning to La Belle Province to attend college. He was one of the top three field-goal kickers in the CIS in each of his last two seasons.

Montreal because that’s where my family is.
