The Calgary and Area Midget Football Association’s 2017 champion will be crowned on Friday as the Cowboys and Mavericks meet at Shouldice Park’s Encana Field. Kickoff is at 7 p.m.

The Calgary Stampeders, through the Stampeders Foundation, are fully committed to the support of amateur and grassroots football in Calgary and southern Alberta communities, including the CAMFA.

In its 14th year of existence, the CAMFA is a spring football organization for high school-aged players. Current Stampeders receiver Anthony Parker is just one of the alumni of the CAMFA who went on to play in the CFL.

Another former CAMFA player – ex-Stampeders running back Matt Walter – will be honoured at halftime of Friday’s championship game as he will be added to the CAMFA’s Wall of Fame along with coach Biagio Iannace and longtime CAMFA executive member Howard Parkinson.
