Stamps players elect team captains

Bo Levi Mitchell, Joshua Bell, Rob Cote and Rene Paredes are the Stampeders’ captains for the 2017 season. The four were chosen as a result of a player vote.

Mitchell is in his sixth season with Calgary and his third as a team captain. The quarterback from Katy, Tex., is coming off a year in which he was named the CFL’s Most Outstanding Player. For the past two seasons, he has been honoured with the Herm Harrison Memorial Award for his service to the community.

Bell is in his fourth season with the Stamps and begins his first as a team captain. The 32-year-old safety started his CFL career with two seasons in BC and also has experience south of the border with the Denver Broncos and Green Bay Packers.

Cote, the longest-serving player on the current Stamps roster, is a Stamps captain for the sixth time in his career. The fullback joined the team in 2007 and has 178 games of experience and two Grey Cup rings with the Red and White. The 30-year-old Cochrane native is a two-time recipient of the Presidents’ Ring award, as voted by his teammates, for demonstrating excellence on and off the field.

Paredes is entering his seventh season with the Stampeders and his fourth as a captain. The veteran kicker is a three-time division and CFL all-star and was the Stamps’ nominee for Most Outstanding Special Teams Player in 2012, 2013, 2015 and 2016.
