Player representative Brandon Smith and a group of his teammates as well as members of the Outriders cheer team and Ralph the Dog will be at the Alberta Children’s Hospital on Wednesday to help launch yet another season of the Every Yard Counts program.

Stampeders alumnus Vince Danielsen, who initiated the program more than two decades ago, will also be in attendance.

Throughout the season, Stamps players visit the Alberta Children’s Hospital as part of Every Yard Counts, presented by Shane Homes.

“I’m looking forward to not only Wednesday’s program launch, but yet another season of the Every Yard Counts program,” said Smith, set to begin his fourth year as the program’s player representative. “I truly enjoy every visit and interacting with the patients to bring a smile to their faces. My teammates and I are committed to help make a difference in the community, and this is an excellent way to fulfill that goal.”

The program enables patients to attend a home game as personal guests of Danielsen, who played with the Stamps from 1994 to 2001 and won two Grey Cup rings. Danielsen established the program in 1997 because he himself is a childhood cancer survivor. Every Yard Counts is now set to begin its 21st consecutive year.

As part of Every Yard Counts program launch, Shane Homes have generously donated gift bags along with 200 tickets to the Hospital for use by patients.

On Tuesday, the Stamps contingent will spend the afternoon with various young patients by assisting with arts and crafts and playing games in the auditorium.

As part of the program, the Stamps also donate 20 season tickets to the hospital for use by patients and their families.
