A second consecutive road game for the Stampeders will take place at Montreal’s Percival Molson Stadium on Friday when the Red and White will look to remain unbeaten though four weeks of the 2017 season.

The Stamps are coming off a 29-10 victory in Winnipeg while the Als most recently dropped a seven-point decision to the out-of-town BC Lions.

In their matchup with the Blue Bombers, the Stamps forced four turnovers en route to outscoring the opposition 20-0 over the final two quarters.

“We took a good step forward (but) we’re nowhere close to where we want to be,” indicated head coach Dave Dickenson when asked about the defensive performance in Week 3 despite an extensive injury list. “Personnel-wise, we’ll be fine. We’ll find the right guys to put in there and I have faith that the people that are working hard on the practice field will get it done.”

Montreal, meanwhile, was assessed over 100 yards in penalties and managed to score a single touchdown.
Currently atop the West Division standings at 2-0-1, Calgary will look to limit the league’s leading rusher in Tyrell Sutton, who has gained 210 yards along the ground for the 1-2 Alouettes.

“I think (Montreal head coach) Jacques (Chapdelaine) is committed to the run game and Sutton is just so strong,” Dickenson stated on the eve of his team’s eastern road trip. “Durant is so strong. They’ve got receivers (who are) so strong. Our defence has to bring their hard hats if we’re going to win. They’ve got to be ready for a very, very tough, physical game.”

The Stampeders are the only CFL squad to have recorded a TD on offence, defence and special teams. The Als are the lone franchise to have not yet conceded a quarterback sack.

Players to be put on this week’s active roster include Pierre-Luc Caron, Ben D’Aguilar, Roy Finch, Reuben Frank, Michael Kashak, Patrick Levels and Justin Renfrow. The seven players coming off the 46-man roster are Tunde Adeleke, Kashawn Fraser, Dexter Janke, Rory Kohlert, Randy Colling, Aston Whiteside and Terry Williams.

Calgary has had its fair share of struggles in Montreal with only 14 wins in 37 career trips to Quebec including just three in their last 10 visits. However, quarterback Darian Durant – who was traded from the Roughriders to the Alouettes during the off-season – has lost 11 of his last 14 regular-season and playoff starts versus the Stamps.

“You’re going up against a very savvy quarterback and, to me, one of the best runners in the league,” praised Dickenson. “They’re a physical group, so the D-line will be challenged.”

A 17-8 defeat in Montreal at the hands of the Als to close out last year’s regular-season schedule is the Stampeders’ only loss in the past 10 regular-season road games.

Week 15 will be the next time the Stamps and Alouettes meet with the late-September showdown taking place at McMahon Stadium.
