McMahon will be Toy box once again

Broken Toyz

There’s nothing like performing in front of a home crowd.

Six years after their last performance at a Stampeders game, Broken Toyz returns this Saturday to put on a show during pre-game and halftime.

“We’re excited beyond belief to be asked to do this again,” band member and hometown boy Greg Cox said. “I would play every halftime there if I could. Being a Calgary boy, it’s very special.”

The band last performed at McMahon on Labour Day in 2011. They’re hoping to please fans who may remember them from six years ago as well as those listening to their music for the first time.

It’ll be a large crowd, as McMahon fills up fast when the Saskatchewan Roughriders come to town, and the band wouldn’t have it any other way.

“We have a feel for it already, but we’re always honoured to play for our home team for a crowd like that,” Cox said. “We’re hoping to get a whole new generation of fans.”

Cox said fans can expect is entertainment.

“It’s going to be an over-the-top ‘80s metal explosion, just some Great classic ‘80s music,” Cox said. “We take each gig as if it’s our first and we don’t fall back on past laurels. We go in full guns blazing to put on a great show.”
