Singleton and Richardson honoured by CFL

Linebacker Alex Singleton and defensive back Shaquille Richardson have been honoured as Canadian Football League’s players of the week for their play in the Calgary Stampeders’ 39-18 Labour Day Classic victory over the Edmonton Eskimos.

Singleton recorded a career-high 13 tackles against the Eskimos and also had one tackle for loss and one sack.

For the season, the second-year Stamp out of Montana State is second in the CFL with 69 tackles and he also has one special-teams tackle, two sacks, seven quarterback pressures, a forced fumble and two knockdowns.

Meanwhile, Richardson had two interceptions and a fumble recovery on Monday to help the Stamps record their sixth consecutive victory. He also had three tackles, one special-teams tackle and two quarterback pressures.

Richardson leads the Stampeders this season with three interceptions to go along with 25 tackles, five special-teams tackles, two knockdowns and four QB pressures.

Stamps players have received player-of-the-week recognition from the league on six occasions so far in 2017.
