Paredes: I’m just happy to help the team win

It was tough during the week leading up to the game. The main thing for me was to try and get healthy and give myself a chance to play today. Yesterday I felt okay and today I felt a little bit better. I’m still not 100 percent, but hopefully next week I will be.

I wasn’t trying to kick it 100 percent, I was just trying to kick it with 85 percent rhythm. I knew I wasn’t going to be able to kick bombs, so I was trying to keep my rhythm and that’s what I did today.

You never know what is going to happen. I’m pretty happy that we got the win and I could help the team put some points on the board.

With the uprights, you couldn’t tell, but there was a small breeze coming across. On the field you couldn’t tell that much, but it was definitely there. I was just trying to block everything out of my mind and focus on kicking.

Everybody is playing well right now. Our defence is playing amazing, our offence is moving the ball, scoring points, and special teams is just grinding every week. We just have to keep it going and a win is a win no matter how we win it. We just have to keep going.

It feels good to be the first to get the fire helmet twice. Special teams coordinator Mark Kilam told me he wasn’t going to give it to me, so I don’t know what happened, but he must have changed his mind. It feels good, it’s a nice award and I’m just happy to help the team win.
