The return of Jorden

Remember when Kamar Jorden was torching CFL defensive backs earlier this season?

That guy is back.

“Most definitely, I’m here,” said Jorden through a smile Monday, after his return to action Friday against the Ticats in Hamilton.

“At first it was a little tough getting back in to it. Getting back to the speed of the game, your breath, your legs, getting hit. After a while, you do feel it coming back. At the end of the game, I got my confidence back that I was able to make moves, jump, take hits and all those kinds of things.”

That’s good news for the Stampeders and their fans.

Not so great for the rest of the league.

Before being placed on the six-game injury list in Week 7, Jorden was leading all receivers in touchdowns with four and was in the top five in receiving yards with 474.

That lower body injury kept the talented slotback on the sideline for 10 weeks.

“It was really tough when the injury happened,” Jorden admitted. “With the first six weeks, being able to produce like that and get into the endzone, it felt good. So when I got hurt, it was tough sitting out and being on the sideline.”

“As the weeks went on and I started rehabbing, I realized that at the end of the day I just wanted to make sure that I came back stronger and ready to go and not thinking about my injury. I wanted to come out at 100 percent and help the team out at the same level I was helping before. At first it was difficult, but at the end of the day, whatever I have to do to help the team to get the Grey Cup, that’s what I’m going to do.”

Against Hamilton, the 6-foot-3 slotback leaped and made a spectacular catch for the Stamps’ lone offensive touchdown of the game.

“At that point, I saw Bo scrambling and I saw the ball in the air,” explained Jorden. “I knew I had to grab it at its highest point. I’m just glad I came down with it.”

“It felt good to get back out there with my guys and to go into battle. I definitely had to shake off a little rust in the beginning. But my leg, everything felt good. I was moving good, I felt like I was able to do everything that I wanted to do on the field as far as making moves and playing with speed. You just have to get back into the rhythm of the offence and reading the defences.”

Jorden has enjoyed playing at home this season, with 165 yards and two touchdowns in three games this year, although the third game was cut short due to his injury.

He’ll return to the McMahon turf Friday at 7 p.m. when the Stamps host the Saskatchewan Roughriders.

“I feel great,” said Jorden. “Right now, playing at home, I’m excited to play here in front of the fans again.
“I want to just show them that I’m the same guy that they saw in the first six weeks.”
