Wilson Blog: First CFL Game

Tonight was a good experience to get out there and go to work with my teammates. It was a good feeling. I wish it would have been in a victory, but overall I feel like it was a good experience for me.

It was cool to get on the field. The coaches were preparing me all week and letting me know that I could be thrown in at any time if someone went down. I really locked in and focused during the week because I knew I had a chance to get on the field at any moment during the game. I went in there and I did what I had to do.

I feel like I’m ready to play even when I’m on the practice squad. You just have to be ready to go at any time because you never know. In this game, an injury can happen on any play. You just have to be ready and mentally dialled in all week whether you’re on the active roster or the practice squad because they could call you in the day before the game and tell you that you’re up and if you’re not ready, that’s on you, no one else.

I feel like I get a good look from my offence, it’s a good offence. Going against them on scout team and when I get reps with the defence, it’s really helped me get accustomed to the CFL game.

It’s been a minute, I think my last real game was over a year ago. This was my first game back hitting, so it was good to get back into the pads and get to hit somebody.
