Stamps Lead Esks 22-15 At Half

Calgary will need to hold their lead for a shot at the Toronto Argonauts in next week’s Grey Cup.

Touchdowns in the first quarter by CJ Gable and Derel Walker along with an Edmonton single provided the points for the visitors early in the contest.

As for the Red and White, three second-quarter majors – from Marquay McDaniel, Marken Michel and Roy Finch – have the Stamps ahead 22-15 at the break in the Western Final from McMahon Stadium.

Gable broke the plain of the goal-line on third and goal from eight yards out before Derel Walker was left all alone for a 69-yard heave and uncontested touchdown.

The initial first down for the Stamps was the result of a Kamar Jorden handoff which went for 17 yards. Later on, offensive lineman Dan Federkeil was declared eligible for a rare reception to move the chains and set up McDaniel’s 10-yard TD over the middle.

Tying things up midway through the second was Michel. No. 80 took an end-around and followed the blocks of his fellow receivers for a 13-yard major. Just before the intermission, it was Roy Finch dancing his way to pay dirt with a sensational 50-yard effort.

Leading the Stampeders through the air is Jorden with 40 yards. Roy Finch has been the most productive runner with 81 yards on just four attempts.

In total, Finch has accumulated 184 all-purpose yards.

Linebackers Jameer Thurman of Calgary and Adam Konar of the Eskimos lead their respective squads with four tackles apiece.
