It’s a Snap Blog: Grey Cup fans

This week at Grey Cup has been an amazing experience. While covering the team, the awards and other happenings around Ottawa has been awesome, the really impressive thing is the fans.

Our fans are what make the CFL unique. Every team is represented at the Grey Cup, even though there are only two clubs playing on Sunday.  It’s where Stamps and Eskimos fans actually get along, even if it’s for this week only!

My job affords me the privilege of meeting and speaking with a lot of fans of the Red and White. This week I’ve met Stamps fans who have come from the Siksika Nation, fans who have been to 30 Grey Cup Festivals in a row, fans who loyally watch Stamps TV (THANK YOU!!) and fans who are new to the CFL and have been welcomed with open arms. We even met a pair of fans who won the chance to be here thanks to a Stampsmas giveaway!

If you’ve never been to the Grey Cup Festival, it’s a definite bucket list item. The amount of events and celebrations to take in is overwhelming but the energy in the host city is electrifying. As a Stamps fan, the Calgary Grey Cup Committee Pancake Breakfast, the horse riding into the hotel and Stamps House presented by Coors, the club’s hosted party destination, are all must do’s.

While at Stamps House last night I took a moment to look around and take in what was happening. All these people, proudly wearing the white horse, travelled across the country to be here to support this team. You may not be on the field this Sunday, but you are there in the hearts and minds of the players, coaches and everyone in the organization. Thank you, Stamps fans, for your undying support of me, of Stamps TV and of this team.
