Roman Grozman Announces Retirement

CALGARY, AB - AUGUST 28, 2016: The Calgary Stampeders won 30-24 against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats at McMahon Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Calgary Stampeders offensive lineman Roman Grozman has announced his retirement from the Canadian Football League.

“As much as I loved playing football, the decision to retire is the right one in regards to my long-term health,” said Grozman. “I thank Coach DelMonaco, Coach Dickenson and Huff for giving me the chance to play and I wish the team and my former teammates the best of luck for the upcoming season.”

Grozman, who was born in Israel and grew up in Vaughn, Ont., was a fourth-round selection by the Stampeders in the 2016 draft. He appeared in seven games as a rookie during the 2016 season including one start at centre.

Prior to joining the Stampeders, Grozman played four seasons at Concordia.

“I wish Roman all the best in the next chapter of his life,” said Stampeders president and general manager John Hufnagel. “He showed great determination and effort during his unfortunately brief time with the Stampeders and I thank him for his contributions to the club.”
