Stampeders Sign Three Defensive Linemen

The Calgary Stampeders have signed international defensive linemen Danny Mason, Brandon Peguese and Kelcy Quarles.

Danny Mason

Mason originally signed with the Stampeders on Oct. 8, 2017, and he appeared in one game for Calgary, recording two tackles and one QB pressure. He signed with the NFL’s Chicago Bears in 2015 and attended training camp with the Denver Broncos in 2017. Mason made his professional debut in 2014 with the Indoor Football League’s Texas Revolution and later joined the Colorado Ice. After his senior season at Texas A&M-Commerce, Mason was named the Lone Star Conference’s linebacker of the year and earned first-team all-conference honours.

Peguese has 12 games of CFL experience as he split the 2012 season between the BC Lions and Hamilton Tiger-Cats and collected 10 defensive tackles, three special-teams tackles, four sacks, two forced fumbles and two knockdowns. He attended training camp with the NFL’s Philadelphia Eagles in 2011 and was with the Indianapolis Colts in 2012. He has played arena football with the Spokane Shock, Las Vegas Outlaws and Sioux Falls Storm, earning first-team all-star honours and an Indoor Football League championship with the Storm in 2016.

Quarles played two games for the NFL’s Indianapolis Colts in 2014 and has also spent time with the New York Giants, New England Patriots and Cleveland Browns. He was a first-team all-Southeastern Conference selection at South Carolina in 2013 after recording a team-leading 9.5 sacks and 13.5 tackles for loss.
