Stamps Add Defensive Back

CALGARY, AB - SEPTEMBER 16, 2017: The Calgary Stampeders won 27-13 against the BC Lions at McMahon Stadium on Saturday.

The Calgary Stampeders have signed international defensive back Trey Caldwell.

Caldwell was selected in fifth round (173rd overall) by the Cleveland Browns in the 2016 National Football League draft and played one game during the 2016 season. He was released by Cleveland at the conclusion of the team’s 2017 training camp.

In college, Caldwell played 48 games over four years at Louisiana-Monroe and earned honourable-mention all-Sun Belt Conference honours in each of his last two seasons. He had 143 career total tackles for the Warhawks including 6.5 tackles for loss and added two interceptions including one that he returned for a touchdown. Caldwell also returned 14 kickoffs for 323 yards.

In another roster move, the Stamps have released international quarterback Tyler Rogers.
