Eric Rogers Returns To Stampeders

The Calgary Stampeders have signed international receiver Eric Rogers, who previously played for the Red and White in 2014 and 2015.

“Eric was an excellent and productive player for us and we’re very pleased to welcome him back,” said Stampeders president and general manager John Hufnagel. “Eric is familiar with our offence and he obviously had an excellent rapport with Bo Levi Mitchell, so I look forward to seeing him perform once he’s been given an opportunity to get readjusted after two years away from the CFL.”

Rogers played a total of 19 regular-season games in his first stint with the Stamps and also appeared in three post-season contests including Calgary’s 2014 Grey Cup victory over the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. Rogers was the Stamps’ leading receiver in the championship game with five catches for 108 yards.

The California native led the CFL with 1,448 receiving yards in 2015 and was also among the leaders in receptions (87), touchdowns (10), yards after catch (399) and second-down conversions (28) as he earned CFL all-star honours.

Rogers signed with the San Francisco 49ers in 2016 but suffered a knee injury in training camp and missed the entire 2016 National Football League season. Prior to joining the Stamps, he had an NFL audition with the Dallas Cowboys and saw action with the Portland Thunder in the Arena Football League.

Rogers set several school records at California Lutheran as he caught 220 passes during his career with the Kingsmen for 3,461 yards and 41 touchdowns.

In another roster move, international defensive back Tay Glover-Wright has been released.
