Hayes: Game Blog

I think I played pretty good last night, there’s still some small stuff I have to pick it up on, but overall I think I played a pretty good game.

My interception tonight came after I saw the wide receiver come off the line, and he was kind of jogging at first. So I’m looking at him and looking at the quarterback – and he released it. The receiver didn’t turn his head around, so I just beat him and caught the interception.

It was a hostile crowd in Saskatchewan but I love playing in this type of environment, when your backs against the wall you just have to step up and make plays. This type of environment brings out the best out in everybody, us playing here made a lot of people play harder. Julian Wilson had two picks and I had one, everybody stepped it up.

It feels pretty good, coming here and playing with a bunch of guys that you create a bond with. It feels great to come here and get the win especially coming off a loss last week. But cut-downs are coming so we just have to wish for the best, stay prayed up, and hope everything works in my favour.

Training camp has been a great experience for me though; everyday I’m learning something new. Every practice I’m trying to work on something different, small things the coach probably told me the day before that I need to work on. I try to come out every day and work on small things, and come game day I’m ready. I’m a firm believer in you practice how you play. I’m one of the guys where I practice, work on the small things, and come game time I’m locked in.

I’m definitely hoping to be in Calgary for the home opener.
