It’s all eyes on them.

Can the Stamps go 8-0?

It’s a big test ahead as the Stampeders head to Regina this weekend, taking on the Saskatchewan Roughriders at New Mosaic Stadium for a second consecutive road game.

The Red & White are coming off a bye-week, after defeating the B.C. Lions 27-18 at home while the Riders – who also had a bye – were handed their second loss in a row at the hands of the Edmonton Eskimos 26-19 on Aug. 2.

For the Stamps, it was a welcome break.

“At first you think I don’t need it,” said running back Terry Williams of the break. “But after you get off of it, you’re like ‘I really needed this’.

“I missed last game, had a bye-week, now I’m ready to fly around, my legs feel fresh.”

And now after some rest and a week of practice the big question remains: who will fill the Stamps’ running back position come Sunday?

“We’ve been working on some things,” said head coach Dave Dickenson. “It’ll come out soon enough. We’ve been working with the progression of all three guys (Romar Morris, Don Jackson, Williams) and we’re going to see what the best option is.

“(But) whoever has the ball has to squeeze it, has to make sure they find their seams, and be good in protection, because I expect a lot of pressure. But if we get that I have confidence in all our guys.”

Throughout the week, it was Morris taking most of the reps at practice, however Dickenson has been spreading practice time out – ensuring everyone feels confident.

“We even gave anAnte Milanovic-Litre some reps as well,” he explained. “We want to make sure everyone’s seen it with their eyes.

“Whoever’s in there has to play confident, play fast, be dual threat – run and pass. But first and foremost running backs have to know our protection roles, have to do a good job against the blitzes, scan sky, find the extra guys and make plays for us.”

And no doubt, there’s definitely one Stamp eager to make plays, whether it be on the punt-return or running game.

“We really get up for games against the Riders,” Williams said. “It’s our rival.

“I’m really ready, I was ready to go last week, I’m ready to go this week.

“I’m excited to keep this ball rolling and get 8-0.”

Additions to this week’s 46-man roster are Montell Cozart, Royce Metchie, Tay Glover-Wright, Tunde Adeleke, Folarin Orimolade, and Mike Rose. The subtractions will be Troy Stoudermire, Larry Brihm, Tre Roberson, Maleki Harris, Ese Mrabure, and Michael Kashak.
