Calgary Stampeders receiver Kamar Jorden has been named the Canadian Football League’s top player for the month of August.

It was a record-breaking month for Jorden, who in an Aug. 25 win over Winnipeg set a new Stampeders single-game mark by accumulating 249 receiving yards.

In three August games, the Bowling Green product had 20 catches for an even 500 yards – an average of 25.0 yards per reception and 166.7 yards per contest. Seven of the receptions went for at least 30 yards and nine allowed the Stamps to convert on second downs. Jorden had a touchdown in each of the Stamps’ three August games and he also hauled in a pass for a two-point conversion.

During the month of August, Jorden delivered the two most productive games by a CFL receiver this season – a 185-yard performance in an Aug. 4 game against BC as well as the record-breaking 249-yard game against the Blue Bombers.

For the season, Jorden has 52 catches for 895 yards and six touchdowns. He leads the CFL with an average of 99.4 receiving yards per game and with 11 receptions of 30 yards or more.

Jorden is the first Calgary player since Alex Singleton in September of 2017 to earn player-of-the-month recognition.
