Thriving Under Pressure

It’s been all eyes on him.

But there was no cracking under pressure.

In his second start of the season, Reggie Begelton made sure to deliver, hauling in five receptions for 150 yards in the Stampeders’ 43-28 victory over the Ti-Cats last Saturday in Hamilton.

The impressive performance included his first touchdown of the season, catching a 99-yard bomb from Bo Levi Mitchell and then running it 50 yards to the endzone.

Adding to that, the pair connected on the following two-point conversion.

“It’s a blessing that Bo finally has that confidence in me,” Begelton said. “Now I can see that he does trust me, and the biggest thing you need to have between the quarterback and receiver is that confidence.

“It feels good that I’m able to contribute consistently, hopefully we can keep it going.”

And what feels even better for Begelton and the Stamps is once again being the first team in the league to crest 10 wins on the season.

That makes it 11 years in a row the Red & White has had a winning record.

“This is a great program and it shows just from the record,” Begelton said. “Everything that these coaches do, the staff, they know what they’re doing; they know how to recruit and everything. The atmosphere, the family vibe we have here is great.”

Now the focus is to keep the ball rolling, and pile more wins up down the stretch.

“It feels really good that we were able to come back from that game in Edmonton,” said Begelton. “Right now, hopefully, we can get as many guys as possible back and get a rhythm. Once you start having people dropping like flies it’s hard to get a consistent rhythm.

“But it’s good to come into the bye week with a ‘W’, and hopefully we can recover.”
