Stamps Add Four To Practice Roster

The Calgary Stampeders have added international defensive back DaShaun Amos, international running back Ka’Deem Carey, national receiver Austin Hartley and international linebacker Warren Long to the team’s practice roster.

International

Amos signed with the NFL’s New York Giants as a free agent in 2017 but was released prior to the start of the season.

He played 49 games over four seasons at East Carolina. He finished his Pirates career with 116 total tackles including 5.5 tackles for loss, two sacks, two fumble recoveries, 11 pass breakups and a 100-yard interception returned for a touchdown.

Ka’Deem Carey

International

Carey was a fourth-round NFL draft pick in 2014 by the Chicago Bears and played in 37 games over three seasons. He made one start for the Bears and had 443 rushing yards and two touchdowns as well as 13 catches for 131 yards and one score.

Carey played three seasons at the University of Arizona. In 36 games for the Wildcats, he set school records with 4,239 rushing yards, 48 rushing touchdowns and 5,483 all-purpose yards. Carey was a two-time all-conference player, two-time all-American and was the Pac-12 offensive player of the year in 2013.

In his final two seasons at Canyon del Oro High School in Arizona, Carey rushed for 4,492 yards and 71 touchdowns.

Austen Hartley

National

Hartley was selected in the sixth round (54th overall) by the Ottawa RedBlacks in the 2017 CFL draft. He dressed for 11 regular-season games and also played in the Eastern Semi-Final where he had two catches for 57 yards.

Hartley played four seasons (2013-16) at the University of Calgary and had 85 catches for 1,334 yards and eight touchdowns. He earned Canada West all-star honours in 2016 as he led the conference with an average of 110.2 receiving yards per game. Prior to playing for the Dinos, he attended Calgary’s Bishop Grandin High School.

Warren Long

International

Long joined the National Football League’s Seattle Seahawks as an undrafted free agent on May 4, 2018 and later signed with the New York Giants on Aug. 20, 2018.

He played his first three seasons (2013-15) at Northwestern as a running back, carrying the ball 105 times for 517 yards and five touchdowns. After suffering an injury during his first game of the 2016 season, he was granted a medical redshirt. Long returned for his senior season in 2017 as a linebacker and made 21 total tackles and added one sack and two forced fumbles.
