Matthews: Game Blog

It was great to get my first touchdown in the Red & White.

It felt good to get back in the endzone, and seeing the fans getting excited. I wanted to give the ball to somebody so I threw it up in the stands.

Bo is an athlete, he’s a gamer, so it’s always going to stay alive with him, and he made a good throw.

I tried my hardest to get two feet down in the endzone, it’s a bit of a force of habit from my time in the NFL.

The funny thing is I went to the sidelines afterwards and I asked them is it two feet or one? They said it was one I was like, ‘I did not know that!’ But I was just doing what I was trained to do.

There were definitely some mistakes I made, though. I’m not saying by any means that I played perfect, there are some things that I could have done better. But that’s all a part of growing as a person, I don’t expect myself to go out there and make the same mistakes twice.

But overall I feel like the game was good, it was close, there was no blowout. We just have to keep on fighting, there are a few things we could have done more, especially capitalizing on their mistakes – we didn’t do enough of it. We have to come back out and start over again.

Now we’re going to take on the Roughriders, and I’m excited to be a part of that.

I hear the buzz a little bit in the locker room about what type of game it’s going to be against Saskatchewan – I’ll be ready for sure.
