The Calgary Stampeders will take on the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in the Western Final on Sunday, Nov. 18 at McMahon Stadium. Kickoff is at 2:30 p.m.

Calgary’s opponent was determined in today’s Western Semi-Final at Regina’s Mosaic Stadium as the Blue Bombers defeated the Saskatchewan Roughriders 23-18.

It’s the first time since 1945, the Stamps’ inaugural season, that Calgary and Winnipeg have squared off in a single-game West final. The other five division final meetings between the two franchises took place in a 20-year period from 1946-1965 when the winner was determined either by a total-points series or a best-of-three.

The Stamps and Bombers haven’t met in any round of the West playoffs since the 1982 division semifinal. Winnipeg won that contest 24-3 and has a 9-1 all-time edge against Calgary in the division playoffs.

The teams’ two most recent post-season meetings took place at the Grey Cup when Winnipeg was part of the East Division. The Stamps downed the Bombers to win titles in both 1992 and 2001.

During the 2018 regular season, Calgary and Winnipeg split a pair of meetings. The Stamps were 39-26 winners in Calgary on Aug. 25 while the Bombers claimed a 29-21 victory at Winnipeg’s Investors Group Field on Oct. 26.

The Stamps finished first in the West with a 13-5 record including a 7-2 mark at McMahon. The Blue Bombers were third in the division with a 10-8 regular-season record and were 4-5 on the road.

This is the 37th time in franchise history the Stamps have taken part in the division final including the past seven seasons in a row. Calgary has been in the West final 10 times in the past 11 seasons and this is the seventh occasion since 2008 the contest is being played at McMahon.
