This year’s Grey Cup week has been pretty laid back so far. We’re just trying to focus on the game planning, doing all the right things the coaches are telling us, just getting ready for the game, and ready come out on Sunday and put on a show.

That’s why we weren’t at the CFL awards Thursday night, but we were there with Bo in spirit. He had told us to stay at our hotels, because he wants us to be as ready as possible. So we were just in our game plans, hanging out with the guys, soaking it all in, just trying to be as prepared as we possibly can be.

The fact that I’ve only been in the league for two years and I’m playing the Grey Cup for my second time is pretty awesome.

I’m pretty fortunate, I’m lucky that Calgary picked me up. I couldn’t ask to be with a better organization and with a better group of guys. I’m just blessed and grateful that I’m here for the second time in a row, because I know there are guys that have never had the opportunity to play in a championship game.

It’s been a lot of hard work to get here, though.

The season is a long time, especially when you add pre-season games and getting all the way to the Grey Cup – it’s 22 or 23 games. You just have to stay focused because you’re playing for a ring. It’s why you worked out all off season, this is why you played the pre-season games, why you played 18 regular-season games, to get to this moment.

And I think we’re ready.

We’ve got a really good linebacker group, Alex Singleton and Jameer Thurman have been holding it down for us. We do a lot of good drills, coach Monson puts us through a lot of good situations in practice that lead us to the game. As long as we go out there, be octopuses like Thurm, we’ll be alright.

But it’s going to take everything we’ve got. We’ve got to come out flying, we’ve got punch them in the mouth first, and hopefully we’ll be leaving victorious after that.
