Blog: Don Jackson

We’ve slept maybe thirty minutes on the bus since the win – but there’s no reason to sleep, right now we’ve got to bask in this.

I feel blessed, overly blessed. I feel like God is in our favour, and I’m really, really happy. I’m happy for my vets, for all my teammates and my coaches. And I’m happy for everybody that put work into this team because that’s what it was – it took a lot of work, it took a lot of ups and downs.

That’s what makes this game so special, that you have that type of adversity, and we fought through it. All my guys, we made sure when stuff wasn’t going our way we just kept fighting, kept chopping. Even when people were doubting us, we just stayed together and made it happen.

And now we get to hoist the cup right here in front of our fans at McMahon Stadium today.

I’m happy that we get to be here with our fans to celebrate this. It’s a blessing to have all the support, the Calgary Stampeder fans just stuck with us all year, we had our ups-and-downs and they stuck with us so we’re blessed to have fans like this.

I got my first Grey Cup touchdown last night, too.

It sucked to slip right after but it was definitely a good feeling to help my team put some points on the board.

And Terry Williams broke that record man, 97-yard punt return.

I hope people don’t forget who that man is, that’s Scary Terry and we call him that for a reason. I’m proud of him, I’m proud of my guys – they stepped up. A lot came through our room and I feel like every guy stepped up to help us get this cup.

This year has been a crazy experience, and it’s been a long road so I’m just happy to be here.

I’m proud as I can ever be, I can’t wait to get my name put on it.
